Many companies that market primarily to other businesses are getting caught up in the social media frenzy, according to a recent article in the Wall Street Journal. Unlike consumer-focused companies, however, many of these businesses are finding it difficult to connect with their target market.  

A recent article in the Telegraph in Britain claims that the influence generated by recognized Twitter "influencers" may not be as powerful as once thought. The article cited a study at Northwestern University that used elaborate algorithms to track and rank the most influential Twitter celebrities and evaluate their impact on trends on the microblogging site. 

One of the many facets of a successful public relations strategy is the building and maintenance of brand value. In fact, one of the largest factors considered when valuing a company can be its reputation. Protecting a brand reputation during a crisis can be crucial, as has been demonstrated recently with the Toyota and BP public relation disasters. A recent article in the Wall Street Journal pointed out several reasons that companies need to plan ahead for protecting, maintaining and building brand value.   

The Pew Research Center's Project for Excellence in Journalism has recently released a study looking at media coverage of the impact of technology's affect on society. The study, "When Technology Makes Headlines: The Media's Double Vision About the Digital Age," examined both positive and negative technology-related stories from mainstream sources over the course of the last year.
